Senior Aerospace Thailand (SAT) is a subsidiary of Senior plc, specializing in designing and manufacturing high-technology components and systems for the principal original equipment producers. It operates in the worldwide aerospace & defense, land vehicle, and power & energy markets. However, beneath its facade of advanced manufacturing technologies, SAT struggled with data management and production processes. NFQ brought innovation to an industry where it is often rare. With a strong grasp of the heavy metal industry and an understanding of the high-performance startup environment, unlike many providers who rely on outdated approaches, NFQ brought a cutting-edge perspective. This was the key to their success in delivering an innovative solution to SAT, helping a traditional player make a significant leap into the digital age.

Outdated spreadsheets and a fragmented production picture

SAT, like many other companies in the old industry, was used to operating everything manually. Instead of automated ERP systems, SAT still relied on Google Sheets to manage its production processes. However, this dependency led to fragmented data and frequent errors in manual data entry. The departments operated like isolated ‘islands,’ lacking connectivity, which made internal communication ineffective.

Although SAT had an ERP management system, Infor Syteline, its interface was too complicated for many employees, causing them to struggle with using the system. As a result, they did not fully utilize its features, leading to actual production efficiency reaching only 55%, far short of the 95% goal the company aimed for.

The turning point with the dashboard: simplifying for optimization

After multiple unsuccessful attempts with other partners, SAT turned to NFQ. NFQ, as an official partner of Infor, not only had a deep understanding of the Infor Syteline system that SAT was using but also boasted 20 years of startup experience and cutting-edge technology expertise. 

 

To better understand SAT’s situation, NFQ’s team spent four days at SAT’s factory in Chonburi, a province outside Bangkok. They fully engaged with the production process, walking through every factory area, observing the current operations, interviewing the CEO and senior managers, and listening to key employees. They mapped out the entire production process and pinpointed the main barrier: the complex ERP interface confused, wasted time, and effort, leading employees to bypass the system and revert to manual spreadsheets. Through the comprehensive engagement of SAT’s production process, they establish a foundation for an optimal solution.

 

Instead of completely replacing the existing ERP system, NFQ’s team took a smarter approach: customization and simplification.
